“I feel like cryin’, ain’t got no tears to spare” — Mattie Delaney
Black-white musical interaction during the Jim Crow era has always been a great interest of mine. This is such an odd little number, but I've always liked it. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the studio that day.
I agree! And as far as I know this is the only tune recorded that day, at least with JR's participation; sure wish there was more. And, considering, it's kind of funny the label says nothing about the Armstrongs, crediting Jimmie only as "yodler [sic] with guitars and string bass."
I have a scan of the original Victor release and it does say "Singing with orchestra." If you'd like to use it, let me know and I'll send it to you.
