  1. I can picture folks dancing to this one in the juke on a Friday or Saturday night. I wonder if he was from the same area as Mississippi John Hurt?

    1. "Fare Thee Well Blues" is one of my all-time favorite country blues records. Joe Callicott was from Mississippi hill country nearby to Memphis, Tennessee. He made very few prewar recordings, sometimes in the company of Garfield Akers; he also recorded again in the late 60s; I've not heard those but they're reputed to be quite good. John Hurt was from an area another hundred miles or so south of Memphis, near Greenville.
