  3. This "is" a pretty amazing record, friends. I always used to think of Nancy Sinatra as more of a joke than as anybody to listen to and enjoy. But the combo of Nancy’s vocal, Lee Hazlewood’s production, and Billy Strange’s guitar make this the killer version. (Sorry Sonny & Cher.) And I have to admit, I probably hadn’t ever heard it until it played on the soundtrack to Kill Bill.

    One of these days I’ll post Gabor Szabo’s very excellent version, also from 1966.
