GIRL GROUPS DOWN FOR THE COUNT,
BROUGHT LOW BY A BAD CASE
OF THE BLUES, Pt 1

Millie • My Boy Lollipop • 1964

As we head into the week before Xmas, you won’t find any seasonal fare here. But you can take a “holiday music holiday” with tunes from Floyd Tillman, Hnos Cardenas, Johnny Shines, The Maytals, Tenderfoot Edwards, and Lowell Fulson. Don’t touch that dial!

  1. Wow, I haven't heard this in the longest time! There's something about these "oldies" that never fails to put a smile on my face. (Also looking forward to seeing which Maytals you've chosen . . .

    1. When this came out in '64, released in the US as by Millie Small, I had no idea it was a Jamaican record (or that the song had originated in the US 8 years earlier), only that it was pretty fun to listen to on the radio. As to Toots and company, they're up this Thursday with a great "gospel" side. . . .
