  1. What a wild man! Can you imagine what it must have been like to be in the audience at one of his early shows? I wish I could "cross over into the twilight zone" to find that someone had just invented a time machine.

    1. Imagine growing up in a household where the wildest thing you'd hear was Perry Como. Then, first hearing "Jenny, Jenny" was unquantifiable. But it immediately found a place and began to do its work. Listening to it today, it's just as wild as it was 56 years ago, and tho' I may not have consciously picked up on it then, Richard is so close to being out of control, he flubs his words towards the end, what a record. Glad Art Rupe issued it as is, the Chess brothers probably would have made him retake it. An additional plus: my mom would totally cringe when Little Richard screamed. And another: we share the same middle name.

  2. A little further research shows that the single of "Jenny, Jenny" is a composite of several takes. And it's still out of control! I love it. It was also cut on the same day in 1956 as "Good Golly, Miss Molly" which took at least ten takes to get there.
